On June 16, Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) awarded the contract concerning the "Support services including a survey and implementation plan for the deployment of the look and spectacle of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Competition Venues and related non-competition venues" to Dentsu Inc. The tender was conducted under domestic rules and therefore not published internationally.

On June 16, Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) awarded the contract concerning the "Commission of PR agencies related to support for domestic PR activities" to Dentsu Public Relations Inc., part of the PR giant Dentsu The tender was conducted under domestic rules and not published internationally.

On June 12, Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) announced the winning bidders for the tender concerning "Preliminary design of Temporary Overlays Ⅰ Olympic Stadium and 3 other venues." The contract was won by one of the major architectural design companies with a long record of winning government contracts Azusa Sekkei.

Tokyo2020 Tender result: "Preliminary design of Temporary Overlays Ⅰ Sea Forest Waterway and other 6 venues."

On June 2nd, Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) announced the winning bidders for the tender concerning "Preliminary design of Temporary Overlays Ⅰ Sea Forest Waterway and other 6 venues." The contract was one by one of the major consultancy companies with a long record of winning government contracts Pacific Consultants Co. Ltd. The organisation did not publish any information on the number of companies participating in the procedure.

Joint management organisation planned for temporary venues Tokyo Olympics

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG), Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) , the national government and municipalities that host temporary facilities for the Tokyo2020 games are planning to set up a joint management organisation to handle affairs related the temporary venues for the Games. It is seen as one of the outcomes of the ongoing discussions related to who is going to bear the costs for these venues. 

Tokyo2020 Tender result: Project Management Support Services for Temporary Overlays

On May 17 the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG) announced the winning bidders for the tender concerning the Project Management Support services for temporary Overlays at the various Olympic venues. The contract was won by a joint venture of Japanese companies. It is likely that these companies are going to play a major role in deciding which companies will be involved in the actual provision temporary overlays. 

TMG to start trial with new procurement rules in June

Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will introduce new rules for its public procurement system on a trial basis from Juni 2017. The move was spurred by the discovery of major irregularities in a number of large scale public works tenders such as the new wholesale market in Toyosu and a number of venues for the Tokyo2020 Olympics. Lack of real competition in these tenders led to prices being driven up to extraordinary heights and practices where tenders were won by bidders offering 99.9% of the projected price.

Olympics: Winning bidder Olympic Canoeing and Slalom venue announced

On April 6, TMG announced the winning bidders of the upcoming Tokyo2020 Olympics Canoeing and slalom venue. The contract to construct the facilities for the venue was won by a Joint-venture, comprising of Konoike Construction Co.
