Government to support municipalities with offering water management services in PFI concessions

The Cabinet office has started a support program for local municipalities to assist them with investigating the possibility to offer water management services, i.e. the public water supply and sewerage services in concession. Municipalities can have all costs covered for investigations into due diligence, the division of responsibilities between public and private actors and feasibility studies.

Highlighted tender: Survey Research commission tender

Japanese central government organisations often issue tender calls for commissioned international survey research on a wide variety of topics, some of which might also be of interest to European-based research companies. The following is an example of this type of surveys commissioned by the Cabinet Office.  The call is published under the WTO GPA regulations which ensures equal treatment of both Japanese and foreign bidders.

Public offer to empirically test robotics technologies in ‘Fukushima Hamadori Robotics Demonstrative area’

On April 1st, METI has announced a public offer inviting companies, universities and research institutes to take part in a demonstrative field project concerning robot-technologies to deal with disasters. For this purpose it has set up the so-called ‘Fukushima Hamadori Robotics Demonstrative Area’ in disaster stricken Fukushima Prefecture.

Foreign companies and institutions with advanced technologies are also invited to tender for his project and test their technologies through demonstrative experiments.
