Like electronics, photonics products are being used in many different applications and a wide range of sectors. According to the experts in the sector, the development of devices based on photonic science are going to change our societies and our way of living. There are many applications related to photonics, and even though the market for these products might still be in an evolutionary phase, its global value is already expected to amount to over €600 billion in 2020, with Japan representing around 13% of the market share in 2015.
