Highlighted Event: NRW-Symposium on Smart Mobility

The "NRW in Germany ­– Land of Innovations: German Japanese Smart Mobility Symposium" will take place on 17th October 2018 as part of the “Energy Storage & Smart Mobility Day 2018” at Iino Hall, Tokyo.

The symposium under the patronage of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) will engage with challenges to the mobility of the future and showcase solutions of leading innovators from both NRW and Japan.

Expert speakers from business, politics and academia will provide insights to industry, research, and policy. Japan’s industry powerhouses Toyota and Hitachi, Germany’s energy giant E.ON, and the technical services flagship TÜV Rheinland will present their perspectives and projects next to hidden champions active in the sector. As innovation leaders, NRW’s benchmark mobility start-ups e.Go Mobile and StreetScooter, in the meantime the leading European provider of electric commercial vehicles and subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL, will provide insight to their development and future ambitions.

As a highlight, a panel discussion with the Minister of Economic Affairs of NRW, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, and representatives of NRW’s leading smart mobility innovators will shed light on the way ahead in Germany and NRW, Europe’s prime destination of Japanese investment, in facing the disruptive changes in the mobility sector while leveraging opportunities for a closer cooperation with Japanese partners.
