Telemedicine

With the help of the government, telemedicine and telecare projects are being conducted all over Japan (Hokkaido, Iwate, Kagawa, etc.). Initially supervised by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the effort to develop telemedicine is currently being promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Telecommunications (MIC).

Both ministries have decided to adopt a cautious, step by step approach: First, trial projects are conducted to gather information on a specific issue. Based on the data collected from each experiment, the Ministry raises new issues and suggests changes to be made.
